Junior Engineer (JE) / Scientific Assistant

SSC has announced the Junior Engineer (JE) Examination 2026 for recruitment to Junior Engineer posts in various Central Government organizations and Scientific Assistant posts in IMD. A total of 1,748 tentative vacancies are available across different engineering streams, including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Telecom.

Selected candidates for JE posts will receive a salary in the ₹35,400–₹1,12,400 pay scale (Pay Level-6). The notification does not specify a fixed job duration, as these are regular government posts, not temporary internships.

Candidates with the required engineering degree/diploma or specified qualifications can apply, depending on the post. The age limit varies by post, generally up to 30 or 32 years as on 1 August 2026. The selection process includes Paper-I and Paper-II computer-based examinations, followed by final selection based on Paper-II performance and post preferences.
